My line descends from the offspring of Aaron Hardwick McCarty (who married Nancy Beavers), and his son Cornelius McCarty and his wife Malissa Combs, many of whose descendants repose in the Combes Cemetery. However, Aaron Hardwick McCarty, the Virginia/Kentucky progenitor of this family and his wife rest somewhere else. Does anyone know where? They owned large tracts of land in the early 1800s in the area between the present Combs Cemetery and the town of Gosport. Of course Quincy, where his descendents are buried is located almost on the Putnam County line,so it's possible that he and his wife are buried in a Putnam County cemetery.
