My links to Owen are many. My grandmother MARY ELIZABETH NORRIS married JOHN MOSEMAN JR. after both their families migrated from the Coshocton OH area. My question is what line of Norris to follow. What I have been passed down in family research is Mary Elizabeth was daughter to WILLIAM S. NORRIS and CHARITY NORRIS. I have found a Charity, daughter to WILLIAM NORRIS SR.b. Oct. 4, 1800 and CATHERINE REED with children as follows: JACOB NORRIS,b.August 4, 1825 md. to RACHEL THOMAS NORRIS, b. May 22, 1827, maybe married to ANN NORMAN, Aug. 11, 1863 MARY(POLLY) NORRIS, b. Aug. 27, 1829 WILLIAM JR. NORRIS, b. September 9, 1831 ANNE NORRIS, b. Jan. 20, 1834(maybe married JOHN BAUMGARTNER) CHARITY NORRIS, b. Feb. 25, 1835, Coshocton, OH d. Nov. 7, 1906 Owen, IN ELIZABETH NORRIS, b. May 1837, d. aft. 1906 Child of WILLIAM NORRIS SR. and HANNAH POLLAND md. in Coshocton Nov. 28, 1839 : JAMES NORRIS, b. 1841 Charity and William S. were married March 27, 1855 in Coshocton, OH and children are listed as follows: MARY ELIZABETH NORRIS, b. Sept. 10, 1857, d. Oct. 19, 1920, md. JOHN MOSEMAN JR. Oct. 17, 1875 in Holmes, OH. (John Sr. married ELIZABETH BAUMGARTNER in Coshocton, OH. JOHN NORRIS, b. Jan. 21, 1859, d. Mar. 9, 1859 THOMAS NORRIS, b. Sept. 27, 1860, d. Oct. 29, 1860 MARTHA NORRIS, b. Oct. 18, 1861, d. Mar. 5, 1864 LAURA ETTA NORRIS, B. Oct. 3, 1866, D. May 2, 1946, md. GEORGE G. DAYHUFF, Nov. 8, 1885 EVA LAVINA NORRIS, b. Feb. 3, 1869, d. Oct. 19, 1934 SAMUEL WILLIAM NORRIS, b. Oct. 22, 1873, d. Dec. 13, 1924, md. CAROLINE KIEFFABER Nov. 18, 1895 in Owen, IN. If anyone has different information, I would be most grateful to be corrected. I am also unclear why there were two Charities in Owen with different birth dates. In 1900 there was a CHARITY NORRIS age 71 that does not calculate to being born in 1835. It could be a mistake was made by census recorder. There was also a SAMUEL NORRIS b. abt 1825 in OH married to KEZIAH DULING b. abt. 1824 in OH on the 1860 census and I do not know how or if they are related. JOHN MOSEMAN SR. immigrated from Switzerland as did the BAUMGARTNERs in the 1830's and were in Coshocton, OH before migrating to Owen, IN. I have learned most of this NORRIS family migrated in the 1860's to Owen, IN from Coshocton area in OH as well. Peggy Moseman Kohn.
