I also have Longs and Weatherlys who migrated from NC through Owen County and on to Iowa. The Weatherlys are not direct ancestors but intermarry with cousins. I have a John Calvin Weatherly marrying Mary Magdalene Fulk (Volck) in 1851 with children: James, Eliza Jane, Mary, John Irvin, Sherman, Isabelle and Byron. (Check out Rosemary Lovell's "Owen County Cousins II") My grandmother was one of six Long sisters whose father, Frank H. Long, was born in Owen County. His father was John Calvin Long, b. 5/09/1830 d. 6/09/1862 Owen Co., who married Catherine Adaline Irvin, d. 12/1871 in Owen County. (I have a nice portrait of Frank H. Long as well as John Arney, also an early Owen settler) I would love more information about the Long/Irvin line (Catherine's father is simply listed as "Squire Irvin" in family records, married to Louisa Crouse). Weatherly ? I am descendant of James Andrew Weatherly b 1799 NC d 1852 Owen county, IN. I have reason to believe that James Andrew had an uncle, a brother, and a son - all named Jesse. Any light that you can shed on this individual will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, LMW
