Seems that sometimes people went by their first names and sometimes their middle names. Funny you should mention John BOWEN....as I have a John BOWEN b. 1847 m. Martha Jane REDNOUR b. 1852....they lived in the Freedom area......could he have been a son of your's who died 1852? Or possible grandson? I don't really have any family info on my John B.
