Can any one provide any information about the relationships between the various PORTER families in Clay TWP, Owen Co, IN. Several PORTER families appear in the township in the Federal census years 1860 to 1880. They include the families of Richard Porter, wife Malinda --- Wm Porter, wife Mary --- James or John Porter, wife Elizaberh (all 1860); John Porter, wife Julia Ann -- Gideon Porter, wife Sarah (both 1870) ; Malinda Porter, widow (1880). Were any of the wives from SIMS origins?

can't provide information about owen co but Porter's in clay county connect to the Symes name.. Stella Chatham married George Porter and had 13 children. Stella's brother Clifford married Margaret Symes and had a royal scandals. They divorced and Clifford and remarried and had children but Margaret never did remarry and from all accounts if was Clifford's fault.. see the scandal in the newspaper in 1907 - 1909 ?
