I have a copy of the Defore Cemetery (completed in the 1970s, I think) which I'll be glad to transcribe & post. I've just got to find it. Either I am really busy or just forgetful, where did I do the 1850 and 1860 census for Owen county. I would be most happy to do any of them if I could find them. I can find the indexes for Owen county but I would prefer to wait for the census. Debbie Jennings debj@comsys.net "Following the footprints through time"
we all recognize the wonderful Job Debbie does and envy her a little I suppose that she has this talent.. I know that sounds like a bunch of ballyhoo but she has really helped so many.. I just wish she could do the 1870 census like she did the 1850 and 1860. also wish there was a 1860 mortallity schedule. I'm interested in finding out if anyone has any information that may help find these Boldon{various spellings} brothers. There was a Samuel Bolden listed on the 1830-50-60 census in Tipton Co. Wildcat twp.....think there is a possiblity that he is the brother to the 3 boys I'm interested in finding..... James b. ca1791 m. {1}Hannah Truax {2}Matilda Nutterfee.....they came from Nelson Co.KY...settled in Owen Co.IN....Wayne & Harrison Twp.....early 1820's....James was a J.P.....he had purchased land there....donated land there to start Old Little Mt. Baptist Church....they met in his home when the Church was first starting....I can't find him after the 1850 Owen Co.census.....Old family story says he moved up north in IN.....could it be to Tipton Co.?? Was he still preforming duties as a J.P. at that time?? Or did he die in Owen Co.?? There is NO will for him in Owen Co. McKinney b. 22 Nov 1792 m. Mary Ann Murphy......they came from Nelson Co.KY...settled in Owen Co.IN....living in Wayne & Harrison Twps. there.....McKinney's name has been spelled McKenzie, McKinza etc....he was in the was of 1812....he had a large family.....I have him on the 1830-40-50 census in Owen Co......nothing after that time period.....Did he die there or move on with his brother James somewhere?? They had another brother John Baldwin b. 1797 MD.....m. Elizabeth THOMAS....they to migrated to Owen Co. early 1820's.....lived there until moving north to Putnam Co. by 1850, then on to Mont. Co.IN 1860-70.....then I lose track of them too.....Can't find a death record on them or burial record.....I believe that John probably died sometime between 1870-71....as he didn't sign his grandaughters marriage record and he was her legal guardian her Uncle did....this was 1871......they lived in Union Twp...Crawfordsville P.O......did they die there?? What happened to these Boldon/Baldwin brothers?? If anyone has any clues, please let me know....or any ideas on somewhere else I should check.....all input is welcome. Thanks so much, N.J.Skinner White in MI.
Hello Everyone I am sending this out to amend the message I sent the other day regarding a temporary addresss. Apparently my mail server is going through some changes and updates so I have taken the precaution in the meantime of gaining a few new addresses in order to make sure I don't miss any mail. I am almost positive you are as sick of hearing about it as I am in dealing with it. Now for one final time: I can permanently be reached at any of the following addresses, the first one being the primary address. So as you all know I do try to answer ASAP so if I don't then you might assume a problem and send to one of the others. If the problem is not an emergency then I will still receive the mail when the servers go back up ( if they are down) it just might be the next day. I don't mean to confuse anyone by any means. I am just making sure that everyone has a way of contacting me if they need to. First Address: debj@comsys.net Second Address: debbiej_2001@yahoo.com Third Address: djennings35@excite.com They are all checked daily so I shouldn't miss anything. I have experienced in the past listowners who never replied or took forever so I don't want to allow for that possibility. And some of you I converse with on a regular basis. Debbie Jennings debj@comsys.net "Following the footprints through time"
Anyone having any personal mail or requests for invitations please address it to: debbiej_2001@yahoo.com until later this afternoon(Monday July 31) I am having problems with the mail server and will have a new one before the day is out. I am receiving all posts to the mailing lists through this address but some don't have this for personal mailings. Thanks Debbie Jennings ===== Debra Jennings debbiej_2001@yahoo.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Kick off your party with Yahoo! Invites. http://invites.yahoo.com/
In order to make receiving an invitation faster you may email one of the two addresses below. Please include which page and your first and last name.It will not process without both names. I have made my father Richard Carter co-administrator of these pages, so in the event of another computer crash (god forbid) then someone will be on top of the page for administration. Please, PLEASE do not request an invitation from both of us.Just one of the other, it doesn't matter which. Just if you ask one, don't ask the other for the same persons. Please place me on the Owen County and Kentuckiana sites. Thanks. Carolyn Page Strafford
I am trying to find my HYETT / MORRIS ancestors. I have the following info: Lewis R. HYETT - born Jan 1840 Marion co., OH married Feb 1862 Spencer, Owen Co., IN died June 1911 Millersburg, Mercer Co., IL wife: Susanna Morris - born 1844 Ind (Parents were Edward and Susannah Morris from NC) Thank you. To All Listmembers: I just wanted to take a moment to say a few things. I am receiving a great number of responses for the pages I have created at MyFamily.com namely: The Jennings Place;Kentuckiana; and Owen County IN Page. This is really fantastic as the greater number of persons who are members then the greater amount of info. Now I would like to clear up what I think is a misunderstanding for alot of people. I am also receiving alot of messages saying "This idea is great, but alot of work for you" Well, it may have been work to set the page up, but the reason the pages were created is that I felt there were a large number of persons with info relating to these areas or surnames there. Items they may or may not have been able to place on the mailing list for various reasons. Simply put,THESE PAGES ARE FOR CONTRIBUTIONS FROM EVERYONE. Although I am flattered to think that anyone would think I have enough info to run these pages, I don't. I am contributing what I have that I feel would be of interest to someone else. I am writing this to clear up any thoughts that someone may have that this is a site that only I can contribute to. The Kentuckiana Site is off to a really great start, and Gordon I truly wish I had your cache of photos to draw from. The Owen county Site I do have more info to place but it will take time. This particular site was created since the mailing list is full of persons with alot of really great memories of Owen county and some I have wished to see carried to a greater length but didn't want to offend anyone on the list who didn't wish to see it.So I thought a page such as this would be a great place. The Jennings Place I am placing all the info I have on it. However, I know that everyone is not chasing the Jennings line that I am and most of my info is about that line. Three other things and I will get off the soapbox. 1. If anyone who is a member of these sites is able to do lookups, either place the offer on the page or send the info to me and I will place it. In this way, the answer can be placed on the mailing list and we can put on the page and only do the lookup one time. 2.I have placed polls on these pages to see what is of the most importance to see on these pages, it is the last item there. 3. If anyone wants to be a member of the pages, please email me and I will send you a password. You can also invite persons from within the page. However in writing to me for a password, please send your first and last name and the page you are wanting to be a member of. It won't process without both names, that is why some of you are getting these crazy names. Thanks for the time Debbie Jennings debj@comsys.net "Following the footprints through time"
I meant to thank Marsha Pearson for her family photos also!! Debbie Jennings debj@comsys.net "Following the footprints through time"
Debbie, I love the idea of a members-only site for people interested in Owen Co. I belong to other myfamily.com surname sites and enjoy them a lot. Count me in and please be sure to give us some guidelines when it gets going. Priscilla Normandy Greenwood

To All Listmembers: I have attempted to create something for us to use that I have had a great experience with on another mailing list. I have created a page through MyFamily.com called the Owen county IN page. This is a webpage of a private and secure nature accessed through a password. As with my other mailing list we had to adjust the categories they had pre-programmed in there to our best usage. We cannot change their categories but I have it all worked out now in order to make them work for our group. These pages have the capabilities for us to place photos, queries, have an instant messenger while onsite, and also to place gedcom's on. This is a secure website with access only through a password not just for anyone surfing the web to view. On the other mailing list that I have a page at this site with we made the following adjustments in order to be able to display all the various data we want. We have used the HISTORY section for-- cemetery listings, burials, obits and marriage records and wills We have used the REVIEW section for-- census records, bios, deeds We have used the NEWS section for-- introductions, comments, queries, great websites, maps, genealogy helpers We have used the FILE CABINET for-- posting anything else with a notation for what it is and the location We have used the CALENDER section for -- posting of reunions and special genealogy events This will give us a page to post some of these items that we want on the list or are of interest. Some of these items that people have but can't place anywhere. If you are interested in this, please email me. I will send you an invitation to this page that will have the password on it. Sorry, but this is just how the page works and I can't change it. All I need is your first and last name. This is not meant to compete with any of the existing Owen county pages, as they are just great. This is meant to be "our" place for storing data, reunion announcements,a file cabinet so to speak for Owen county related items. This is meant to be a companion piece for our mailing list. A place to enter various pieces of info that may not make it to the list.We will also have a section for running threads of memories of old school days in Owen county schools. I am offering this because we have had alot of success with it on the other mailing lists. The site is free and only persons interested enough to ask for the access code will be there so all persons viewing it will be very interested persons. I have not had a chance to place anything on this site yet in the way of data, but I am trying to get it going and then everyone can enter data. I will not set this up with data if there is nobody interested. You can also invite persons to join it by sending them an invitation. Look forward to hearing from you. Debbie Jennings debj@comsys.net "Following the footprints through time"
Listmembers: Today I am going to be going through the subscribers lists for all the mailing lists I administer. I have noticed recently that several persons are listed more then once on some of them. This would cause you to receive duplicate mailings. If I find any I will delete both and then resubscribe one of them. I am letting you know this so if you receive a message saying you were unsubscribed, don't be alarmed as there will be one shortly after resubbing you. This shouldn't affect many persons, and should improve the email of those who are subbed numerous times. Debbie Jennings debj@comsys.net "Following the footprints through time"
