    2. Suzanne Brayer
    3. thanks for the info on John and Sarah. I also found a Squire Case who appeared to be the same age as Littleton Sumpter. They both volunteered for the Indiana Volunteers in 1846 for the Mexican American War. I wonder if he is a brother of Martha. Would you be able to find answers to these two questions? How old is John? What are the children's names? Thank you Suzanne bass103@juno.com wrote: > > the only thing I can find on this is John Case and his wife Sarah with > their children lived in Owen co inthe 1850 census. page 54. > On Sat, 19 Aug 2000 20:40:15 -0700 Suzanne Brayer <sybrayer@home.com> > writes: > >Isom SUMPTER and wife Susanna LOVING settled in Owen Co from > >NC ca 1820. 1. [INOWEN] James BALDON/1791-about 1878/KY>IN
    2. Debbie Jennings
    3. I have an ancestor James BALDON/BOLDON who was born in Maryland and then migrated with his parents to Nelson county KY. As an adult he migrated to Owen county IN. He became a Justice of the Peace there in the May 1834 session and performed many acts associated with the office, such as marriages, wills, being admin for wills, doing estate sales, etc. He also was one of the founding fathers of the Little Mount Baptist Church donating land for the building from his own property and also for the Old section of the Little Mount Cemetery. He had massive land holdings from just south of the Putnam county line extending to the Little Mount Church in Wayne twp. In the natural course of time he married(twice) his first wife Hannah TRUAX dying in 1834. He remarried to Matilda NUTTERFIELD after this. Now I am wondering why a man who played various roles in the beginning politics of a county would just "vanished" somewhere between the 1850 and 1860 census. There is no record, church record, burial, will on this man. Seems he would have joined another church or at the very least had a will. The book of History on Owen county states he died "about 1878". Does anyone have any records on this man?? Debbie Jennings debj@comsys.net "Following the footprints through time"

    3. Researching the line of John Knoll and Susannah Knipe. John Knoll born 8-7-1813 in Herxheim Germany and he migrated to the US July 1832(ship unknown). He married Susannah Knipe 5-29-1834 in Wayne county IN.They migrated on to Owen county IN in the year 1840 and they had 14 children. 1. [INOWEN] John McCULLOUGH/1755-1840 OR 1850/PA>NC>TN>KY>IN
    2. Debbie Jennings
    3. Looking for info on John McCULLOUGH born June 17 1755 in Lancaster county PA,(later to become York). He was in the Rev War enlisting in July of 1776 in Chanceford twp of York county in the company of Captain Ross. He later re enlisted at Mecklenburg county NC in April of 1777 in the Company of Captain Osborn. He later migrated to Carrabas county NC for 11 years, then to Cocke County TN, and to Pulaski County KY at which he lived 30 years. He finally settled in Owen county IN and applied for his pension in the August 1834 term of Probate court of Owen county. He died sometime between 1840-1850 in Owen county IN. I am searching for any info regarding his parents, or a name for his wife as he had 8 children and though his pension records are very detailed as to migration he names no wife. The children are: Robert b. unknown Elizabeth b.1791 m David Evans Sarah b. unknown m Robert Hasty Jonathan b. 12-15-1790 m Elizabeth Staton Mary b. unknown m Enoch Evans William b. unknown Margaret b.unknown m James Modrell Rebecca b. unknown m William Camp All the children were married in Pulaski county KY. The last three children were born in TN and the rest were born in NC. I a guessing that his wife most likely died in Pulaski county KY I have it in his pension papers that his father was also named John. Would be interested in trading info with anyone who is following this line. Thanks Debbie Jennings debj@comsys.net "Following the footprints through time"

    3. An added notation re Mary Noel. Her father Henry Noel appears with his family in the Mercer Co, KY census of 1850. Mary is listed as age 9 and born in KY. Reference: Page 256b, enumerated Sep 1850. I seem to recall that the Noels came to Indiana in 1857 - mentioned in the Civil War papers of one of the sons. Thought you might be interested. 1. [INOWEN] Researching REDNOUR (various spellings) family of VA.>KY>IN
    2. I'm researching the REDNOUR family of VA and possibly the Alsace area of Germany......My brickwall is Noah Henry RENDOUR Sr. b. ca1805-1812 VA d. ca1864 VA ??.....Family lore says that his parents or grandparents came from the Alsace area of Germany.....He was m. Permelia C. HAYDEN b. 1830 KY. I have no marriage record for them, but their first child was b. 1847 Monroe Co.IN. They later settled in Franklin Twp, Owen Co.IN. Their children were: Noah Henry Jr. b. 1847, Martha Jane b. 1850 IN., William M. 28 Apr 1855 IN, Mary Francis b,. 1856 IN, Caroline b. 14 Oct 1859 IN, & Samuel Elias b. 8 mar 1863 Owen Co.IN. Permelia died 24 Sep 1916 Owen Co.IN and is buried Farmers Station Cemetery Owen Co......Noah Henry is a bit of a puzzle....family lore goes that Noah Henry went to visit his son Noah Henry Jr. , who was wounded at the battle of North Anna ...May 1864 and while there was murdered in a Tavern?? I have no proof of this but would like to find out if there is anyway possible to find out. Noah Jr's paper state North Anna and also mention City Point VA....so I would think it would be in this area somewhere.....If someone in that area would know of any records I could search for this information I would be grateful to them if they would let me know....don't know what kind of newspapers were at that time in the area....or official records , if indeed it was a murder?? Noah Henry Sr. was a Chairmaker by trade as per census records that I have found on him.....If anyone is researching this family line, I would appreciate hearing from you.....have lots of family information to share after the family came to IN to live. Thanks so much, N.J.Skinner White in MI.

    3. I do not mean to confound your situation, but I know there were people from Somerset, PA who settled in Monona Co., Iowa. There are Long's there, but I believe they came there from Logan Co., IL, between Chestnut and Mt. Pulaski. 3. Hi, THe Hillsville gun show opens the Friday before Labor Day and runs through Labor Day. While it is began as a gun show it has grown well beyond that today. I rather suspect that a minority actually pursue the gun side - the masses are there to participate in an open air - huge flea market. Understand that the gun show side in itself is awesome - which is probably what inspired the flea market side. I am fascinated with the breadth and depth of the things available - and I have probably never covered all the folks who appear to market their wares. I cannot speak with any kind of authority on the quality of the genealogical material available in Hillsville - county seat of Carroll county. I have visited the Wytheville Community College following a thin lead on an ancestor. My line spent time in Washington County - Abingdon, VA where I spent an enjoyable day a few years ago. The historical society there has good facilities - unfortunately the original court house was burned in the "War of Northen Aggression" so there is a serious gap in the records for the early history of the area. My personal favorite(s) in the area is the Greensboro Historical Museum, the Guilford Court House Battle site, and the genealogical section of the Greensboro public library. Realize of course that I have a strong personal connection to the first two sites - and have always found an answer and several more questions every time I have been to the library. If anyone does get to the Gun Show stop in at the office for the Howlett street market and say hello. I would like to meet anyone who does show up. Should I be elsewhere let someone know you stopped by - perhaps just on my little chatter here.
