    1. [INOWEN] MASSEY FAMILY TIES
    2. Debbie Jennings
    3. I am researching the MASSEY family line that I believe were in the Putnam/Owen county area about 1831. Lucy MASSEY married John EVANS 3-24-1831 in Owen county. Parents of Lucy are thought to be: Jonathan MASSEY and Francis(Franky)DAVIS I have what I think is a marriage date for them of 11-24-1797 in Grainger county TN. I only know of one child which is Lucy born in 1809 in KY and who died before 4-9-1865 in Douglas county Illinois. Any help would be much appreciated ===== Debra Jennings debbiej_2001@yahoo.com "Following the footprints through time" __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! 2. Debbie Jennings
    3. I am researching the line of Joseph HERBERT. He married Mariah HANNA. They were married in New Jersey and migrated to Putnam county IN about 1840. Joseph was born 2-22-1809 and died 2-14-1886 and Mariah was born 11-20-1812 and died 5-1-1890. They were the parents of 11 children and I descend from son Lewis Cass HERBERT who married Mary Ann KNOLL. What I am wanting to find out is a marriage date for Joseph and Mariah. Their first child was born in 1833. I have checked everywhere in NJ and I am hoping that someone else is researching this line that may have found the info. ===== Debra Jennings debbiej_2001@yahoo.com "Following the footprints through time" __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? 3. Sorry, but I was visiting the Putnam County Courthouse when I looked at it. I would assume it was just doctors that had some kind of Putnam county connection. I really only looked at it briefly, and used the index to search for the name Priscilla had asked about a number of times. I would guess that every county has such a directory, as I seem to recall one at Clay County too. There was a book for dentists, and also one for nurses. Why don't you post your request to the Putnam county lists and see if anyone plans to be at the courthouse to do research. I will go back there sometime, but it could be a year or more, very difficult to say at this point. 1. [INOWEN] Researching the TRUAX surname in Owen county
    2. Debbie Jennings
    3. I am researching the TRUAX family surname in Owen county as it pertains to the descendants of William and Ailcy (Combs) Truax. I descend through 4 of their 10 children. Although there could be more connections in there somewhere. 1) Hannah born about 1794 married James BALDON/BOLDON (son of Thomas). They were married 11-30-1814 in Nelson county KY. She died 7-29-1834 and he re- married Matilda Nutterfield. I also connect through the BALDON and NUTTERFIELD lines through other areas, so I am interested in these also. What I am wondering is that James and Hannah were married for 20 years and I have not found any records of children for them. In that time frame it seems unusual to have had no children in 20 years. 2) Elizabeth born 7-10-1796 married James EVANS (son of Andrew). 3) Samuel born about 1799 married Elizabeth BALDON (daughter of Thomas & sister to the James BALDON mentioned above). 4) James born 3-19-1802 married 1st Mariah Sarah BALDON (daughter of Thomas & sister of the above James & Elizabeth). Mariah died in 1838 and James remarried to Arlitta CHAMBERS (daughter of ??). 5. Cynthia born 2-6-1807 married Benjamin MURPHY (son of Charles). This Benjamin MURPHY was also the brother of Mary Ann MURPHY who married McKinney BALDON (another son of Thomas & brother of the above mentioned James,Elizabeth, and Mariah). 6. Edward born about 1784 who married a Rebecca TRUAX. I have no idea whose daughter she is but I have every confidence that it ties into the family line at some point. There is another daughter Emmaline who married a William A. Bolden (or variation) and I have no idea if this is a tie in or not. The above mentioned parents were born in Monmouth county NJ (him) and Cumberland Co. PA (her). They met and married in Nelson county KY and migrated to Wayne twp in Owen county and the majority of them are buried at the Old section of the Little Mount Cemetery there. ANY INFO, on these names will be appreciated and I am more then happy to exchange info ===== Debra Jennings debbiej_2001@yahoo.com "Following the footprints through time" __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? 1. [INOWEN] James BALDON/1791-1878/MD>KY>IN
    2. Debbie Jennings
    3. I have an ancestor James BALDON/BOLDON who was born in Maryland and then migrated with his parents to Nelson county KY. As an adult he migrated to Owen county IN. He became a Justice of the Peace there in the May 1834 session and performed many acts associated with the office, such as marriages, wills, being admin for wills, doing estate sales, etc. He also was one of the founding fathers of the Little Mount Baptist Church donating land for the building from his own property and also for the Old section of the Little Mount Cemetery. He had massive land holdings from just south of the Putnam county line extending to the Little Mount Church in Wayne twp. In the natural course of time he married(twice) his first wife Hannah TRUAX dying in 1834. He remarried to Matilda NUTTERFIELD after this. Now I am wondering why a man who played various roles in the beginning politics of a county would just "vanished" somewhere between the 1850 and 1860 census. There is no record, church record, burial, will on this man. Seems he would have joined another church or at the very least had a will. The book of History on Owen county states he died "about 1878". Does anyone have any records on this man?? ===== Debra Jennings debbiej_2001@yahoo.com "Following the footprints through time" __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
