    2. Am interested in hearing from those with FULK lines that left North Carolina in the 1800s and settled in Indiana. They were part of the descendants from the FULK line that settled in Stokes and Surry County, NC. The primary ancestor was Andreas VOLCK. I've taken some pictures of grave markers of FULK ancestors in Surry County and here in Guilford County as well (Greensboro and High Point are our major cities in Guilford County). Am doing this for my daughter whose mother is a FULK from Pilot Mountain. Her mother's descendancy is (from her father going back): Cyrus Alexander FULK, son of John Payton FULK, son of Enoch Jacob FULK, son of Joel FULK, son of Jacob L. VOLCK, son of Wilhelm VOLCK, son of Jacob Daniel VOLCK, son of Andreas VOLCK I also have a picture of the grave marker of Andreas VOLCK, II, buried in God's Acre, Bethania Moravian Church, Bethania, NC. 1. [INOWEN] SURNAME DISTRIBUTION TOOL
    2. T. Thompson
    3. I'm not sure of the accuracy of this tool... but it is definitely interesting. Enter a surname (last name) into the form and you'll get a map of the United States showing the distribution of people with this surname within the 50 United States. This map is often helpful when trying to determine a starting point for genealogy projects. The source of this data is the 1850 Census, 1880 Census, 1920 Census, and 1990's phone books. Note that the Census data is a sampling of 1 in 100 names, so the 1990 data is the most accurate. It just might give you a hint where you need to look. http://genbooks.hypermart.net/search/distribution.html

    3. I found in Index to Marriage Record, Owen County 1850-1920, a Sarah J. Medaris and Elijah S. Starrett married on March 51,1888, book 32 page 327 entry. I wonder if there could be a connection with your Sarah? My great grandfather was named Elijah S. Starrett. He was married several times. I do not have a lot on him. I have not done much research on that side of the family yet. Please e-mail me at cbranson@ccrtc.com if you have anything that you would like to share. In this same Index book it lists a Reuben Spear and a Sarah C. Medaris Dec. 31,1876 book 30 page580. The M in Medaris is not real clear. ----- Original Message ----- From: Susan Spear Keller <mountainpines@peoplepc.com> To: <INOWEN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, January 14, 2001 12:07 AM Subject: [INOWEN] SPEAR FAMILY IN OWEN CO. > Posted on: Owen County In. 2. I thought that but we had to go to Richmond today so won't get to go until Saturday .. Center Point is in Clay co and it is a genealogy library (speciallty library) -- it is open on wednesday and saturday afternoons from 1-4 .. no charge to use the library -- but will offer you membership in the society which is only like 12.50 a year.. they have a lot of stuff and I mean a lot.. it is all volunteer help but they do try to help. then you run the chance of running into us who are noisey and try to help also.. we have met several people just sticking our noses in .. I am usually too shy but the rest of the group gets me started and then watch out.. On Wed, 10 Jan 2001 10:54:49 -0500 "T.
