    2. Randi Richardson
    3. OOPS! I goofed. This was in the Bloomington (IN) Weekly Courer, October 31, 1911, and NOT the November date noted previously. SHOOTING AT SPENCER Henry Baldwin, a farmer living about four miles north of Spencer, was shot twice and probably fatally injured yesterday afternoon by his brother-in-law, Homer Gantz. The shooting occured at the Baldwin home, Gantz apparently having gone there to settle a former difficulty. Both shots penetrated the breast and the physician gives small hope for Baldwin's recovery. Some time ago Gantz and his wife separated, the trouble between the two arising out of Baldwin's association with Gantz's wife. Baldwin is now under a surety of peace bond, the result of a suit Gantz filed against him some time ago. Public sympathy is with Gantz. Both men have several children. Gantz has not yet been placed under arrest, and thus far no move has been made by the authorities to do so. Gantz has never been in trouble before.

Many of the children of Stephen Barns are either married to men with the same names as those listed below or married to children of men with the same surnames. 3. Owen County (IN) Democrat, August 7, 1902. ANN ELIZA COOPER Ann Eliza Cooper departed this life at Bloomington, Indiana, on Friday morning, August 1, 1902, at the residence of her nephew, James N. Cooper, while on a visit there, after an illness of about six days duration. She was born in Wayne County, Kentucky, April 13, 1820, passing her eighty-second anniversary (about six illegible words) her father died young and when she was (illegible) years old her mother came to this state bringing her family, the deceased and two brothers, John and Frederick Cooper, both deceased, with her. The family settled on a small farm not far from Freeman in Clay Township where the mother remained until her death, the deceased continuing to live with her. For about eight years prior to her death deceased, who was never married, made her home with J. C. Robinson and wife here in Spencer. Mrs. Robinson being her niece. Miss Cooper united with the Little Flock Regular Baptist Church in Clay Township in 1848 or 1849 and was a most faithful and devoted member and attendant of that church until her detah. It was the rule of her life to be found in her seat, if at all possible, at every service, and she did not permit distance, the infirmities of age, or any obstacle possible to surmount to keep her away. Her piety was not noisy but deep and sincere. If she ever did an act harmful or shameful, it is not known, and if she ever omitted to perform her full duty to God or her fellow creatures that, too, is not known... She was buried at noon last Saturday at the old Livingstone grave yard among many relatives who had gone before. Elder Thomas Mitchell conducting a brief service and J. C. Robinson adding some remarks concerncing her life and character.... J. C. R.
