I got this from the Kansas City Mailing List and just had to share it. It speaks for our ancestors, us, and our descendants. ONE........................ As the soot and dirt and ash rained down, We became one color. As we carried each other down the stairs of the burning building, We became one class. As we lit candles of waiting and hope, We became one generation. As the firefighters and police officers fought their way into the inferno, We became one gender. As we fell to our knees in prayer for strength, We became one faith. As we whispered or shouted words of encouragement, We spoke one language. As we gave our blood in lines a mile long, We became one body. As we mourned together the great loss, We became one family. As we cried tears of grief and loss, We became one soul. As we retell with pride of the sacrifice of heroes, We become one people. We are One color One class One generation One gender One faith One language One body One family One soul One people We are The Power of One. We are United. We are America. ==== KansasCity Mailing List ==== USGENWEB SEARCH ARCHIVES http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ussearch.htm

Listmembers: As many of you know, in light of recent current events; I had opened our list up for discussion of it and allowed off topic conversations regarding it. I maintain 17 lists and did this with all of them. I am proud of all of you for the reason that unlike many other lists I am on: I think there was a total of 15 postings among 17 lists, much less then expected. None were argumentative or started a flaming war. I guess this just goes to show the caliber of persons on my collective lists and the good sense and taste that you all have. I was warned not to open them in view of potential flaming, but I had (as it turns out) well placed faith in all of our subscribers to act appropriately and you did. I thank you all deeply. Though this is not relavant to your message, I just wanted to pass something on to you. I have been getting tons of messages regarding Nostradamus predictions, though I can't deny they are pretty impressive, I decided to see what Edgar Cayce(the American prophet of the early 1900's) had to say, his predictions regarding the end stated that the only safe places that will be left in the United states are parts of Indiana, OH, and Virginia. I just wanted to pass that on to a Hoosier. I know if my mom was alive that would make her feel comfortable cause she was a hoosier till she died last year, though she had not lived in Indiana since 1951. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sam Cline" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, September 16, 2001 11:52 AM Subject: [INOWEN] Tombstone Repair Workshop > Saturday, September 22, 2001, the Morgan County History and Genealogy > Association will host a tombstone repair/resetting/cleaning workshop. > > The workshop will take place at the Mahalasville Cemetery, southeast > of Martinsville at 1:00 in the afternoon. > > John Walters of Fayette County, noted tombstone repairman and > recoverer, will present it. Saturday, September 22, 2001, the Morgan County History and Genealogy Association will host a tombstone repair/resetting/cleaning workshop. The workshop will take place at the Mahalasville Cemetery, southeast of Martinsville at 1:00 in the afternoon. John Walters of Fayette County, noted tombstone repairman and recoverer, will present it. He will be showing us how to repair tombstones, how to reset them and clean them. The Mahalasville Cemetery is located as follows: SOUTHBOUND S.R. 37 at Martinsville (first stoplight is at S.R. 44; second stoplight is at S.R. 252, third stoplight is Mahalasville Road) to Mahalasville Road; turn left onto Mahalasville Road, go about 5 miles to Voyles Road and turn left there. The cemetery is on the right at the top of the hill you will be going up, about 1/4 mile from Mahalasville Road. NORTHBOUND S.R. 37 at Martinsville (first stoplight is Burton Lane; second stoplight is Mahalasville Road) to Mahalasville Road; turn right onto Mahalasville Road, go about 5 miles to Voyles Road and turn left there. The cemetery is on the right at the top of the hill you will be going up, about 1/4 mile from Mahalasville Road. All of our programs, unless otherwise noted, are free and open to the public. God bless America! Sam Cline Hoosier Web http://www.hoosierweb.org/ The candle light will always be gleaming through the sycamores. The latch string is always out.
Its interesting the tangled webs they wove. Of course the Lights and Scotts are connected and later the Biggers (in multiple ways). I am looking for information on THOMAS C. HUTTON & AUGUST WEDDING. They were both from Washington County, Virginian, and moved to Owen County, Indiana in the late 1830s. In the Owen County, Indiana 1840 Census are THOMAS and MARY HUTTON and their children, and AUGUSTUS and SARAH WEDDING and their children. THOMAS' son MOSES H. HUTTON married ELIZA ANN GILLASPY February 2, 1837 in Owen Co. Indiana. I believe Thomas HUTTON had another son in Owen County, named ELIJAH HUTTON. He married VERNILDA STEELE July 20, 1846 in Owen County, Indiana. Thomas HUTTON and his wife are in the Owen County Census in 1840, 1850, 1860. I have not seen an 1870 Census, but they are not in the 1880 Census. Moses H. HUTTON and his wife moved to MO, and are in the 1860 Census in Macon County, MO. In the 1880 Census they are in Putnam County, Indiana. Judy Bisig Omaha, Nebraska
I have a follow-up question: Does anyone know where the name "Quincy" originated? I had an IN ancestor ("uncle") named Quincy Short, and there were others in that line as well. I've always kind of wondered.... Thanks! Doy ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Juno offers FREE or PREMIUM Internet access for less!
