    3. No, we are not sure of anything about Mildred PULING. For a long time, I was not even sure she existed! I found this info hand written into some five generation charts in Lexington, McLean Co. IL, by an unknown hand. It was given as the parents of Elizabeth (SCOTT) EASON GODDARD - which is obviously not true! Thanks for poking into this mystery! 2. HMMMMMM, Thomas J. Wells is definitely mine. Thomas is the son of William WELLS and Mary (Polly) BARNS. I wonder if Samuel Scott is Thomas Wells' cousin? Alexander Scott died in 1843 and a Samuel doesn't appear in the 1850 census with Martha Barns Scott. Maybe Samuel is a grandson or nephew of Alexander. But this Samuel Scott is not the same one who married Mildred Puling. Also are we sure about this birthdate on Mildred? She would have been 66 when she married???? I looked at the 1850 census. The only Samuel Scott I found is the one married to Milly Foster or am I wrong? I haven't seriously dug in to my Barns/Scott families yet. So I hope I'm not getting everyone mixed. <<Samuel SCOTT + Mildred PULING / PULLEN. Mildred was born 10 Aug 1778 Northumberland Co. VA, daughter of Leroy & Winnie (UNKNOWN) PULLEN. The marriage is supposed to have been 14 Nov 1844 Owen Co. IN, but I have not found it listed in the Owen Co. before 1850 list.>> Charlotte

    2. Closest I could come to Puling and Pullen is POLLAND. There was a Christian Polland in Centre Township, Monroe County, Ohio in 1820 who was not a naturalized citizen and was quite elderly. Then in the 1830's and 1840's there was a John Polland also in Centre Township, Monroe County, Ohio. There are no Scotts anywhere near these Pollands so the Pollands are probably not the same family. To add a little confusion to all this, there is no marriage record for Edward B. Landrum and Priscilla Barns in pre-1850 Indiana either. Charlotte

    2. Which Wells family was this Samuel living with? Does it say where he was born and when? I don't have my 1860's census book yet. So far as I know Samuel is not one of Alexander Scott's children. But it's possible from early census records that I am missing a male child. If Mildred came from Monroe County, Ohio and Samuel did as well, there won't be a marriage record since the 1867 courthouse fire destroyed those records. I'll check my 1820 and 1830 Monroe County, Ohio census books for Puling or Pullen. Charlotte

    3. Hi, Ohio Scotts! We have a mystery in our VA>Owen Co. IN SCOTTs. Some of our folks have this marriage: Samuel SCOTT + Mildred PULING / PULLEN. Mildred was born 10 Aug 1778 Northumberland Co. VA, daughter of Leroy & Winnie (UNKNOWN) PULLEN. The marriage is supposed to have been 14 Nov 1844 Owen Co. IN, but I have not found it listed in the Owen Co. before 1850 list. This is neither our Samuel SCOTT + Milly FOSTER m 5 Mar 1812 Person Co. NC, nor his son Samuel S. SCOTT m1 Amelia McNAUGHT, m2 Frances Jane (BARNARD) KIGER. Perhaps you know who Mildred is and which Samuel SCOTT she married, if any. Thanks. nancy
