2. I AM SENDING OUT THIS MESSAGE FROM THE MacAfee VIRUS WEBSITE. PLEASE, TAKE THIS WARNING SERIOUSLY. I am sending you this warning message regarding this 2nd NEW VIRUS to protect your system. This one comes from the MacAfee Virus Website... McAfee.com has seen an OUTBREAK of computers infected with W32/[email protected], also known as Pentagone, Goner or Gone. This is a NEW, HIGH RISK virus that spreads via Microsoft Outlook email and ICQ instant messaging programs. This mass-mailing worm will arrive from someone you know with the following email message: Subject: Hi Body: How are you ? When I saw this screen saver, I immediately thought about you I am in a harry, I promise you will love it! Attachment: GONE.SCR Goner has a DESTRUCTIVE PAYLOAD. When the attachment is opened, it will look for a variety of anti-virus, firewall and other security programs and attempt to delete them, along with ALL FILES in the same directory. 2. ELEANOR McCAIN
3. In response to the recent request by Debbie Jennings for some "activity", I am resubmitting my plea for assistance with: Huldah(Hilda) STARBUCK b. Feb. 7, 1814 Belmont Co. Ohio, thought to be dau. of Jethro and Rebecca (MILLS)STARBUCK and James C. COEN b. Feb. 10, 1821, Pennsylvania. Thought to have married in Monroe Co. Ohio Both died and are buried in Spencer's Shiloh Cem., she in Feb. 1877, he in Feb. 1899 It is my belief this Huldah is one of the 5 daughters of Jethro & Rebecca, but have nothing to prove it. She was dismissed from the Stillwater Quaker Mtg. in 1828 to "join another society". Have not yet found any Quaker records to indicate this Huldah's parentage. 1. Re: [INOWEN] N.Y. arival
2. Ron What you are needing to do is a long and tedious process, but can be rewarding depending on your amount of patience. You simply must take the date and then eliminate as you go through searching the passenger listings, making certain to allow for spelling variations. There is a wide variety of ship listing websites that are categorized by date/place of departure, date/place of arrival, ship name. All of these carry passenger lists. While ALL ships are not listed, they do give a very good starting place. There are several of these sites, however, I find that these listed below are the best assortment, they are listed in the order of how I find the quality and usefulness: http://istg.rootsweb.com/ http://olivetreegenealogy.com/index.shtml (good for german immigrants as well as others) http://www.viser.net/~debrapay/ships.htm Debbie Jennings Indiana Research for Hire http://www.angelfire.com/in4/indianaresearch Franklin county Vermont Genweb Site Franklin County Vermont Lancaster County Virginia Genweb Site Lancaster County, VAGenWeb Project Sweet Owen and Surrounding Areas http://www.angelfire.com/in4/sweetowen/ Our Kentuckiana Home http://www.angelfire.com/ky3/kentuckianahome/

1. Re: [INOWEN] Marthy SCOTT, census 1850, 1860.
2. I sent this directly and should have sent it to the list: Martha is the daughter of Stephen Barns and Margaret (LNU). She was the wife of Alexander Scott who was most likely the son of Arthur Scott. Alexander was probably born in Washington County, Ohio. I have now placed Stephen in Ohio County, (West) Virginia through land grants as early as 1804. Stephen lived on the Ohio River in Monroe County, Ohio from about 1816 or earlier to at least 1825. He lived on the Ohio River in what was then Virginia from about 1807 or earlier to about 1816. Many of his grandchildren were born in Virginia when they clearly lived in Ohio. So I have often wondered if the nearest midwife or doctor lived across the Ohio River in Virginia. I have no idea where the family came from before 1804. Mary Barns Wells says she was born in Maryland (she's the oldest girl). Martha list her birthplace as Virginia. So it's possible Stephen was in Ohio County as early as 1797 but he definitely wasn't there in 1787. Priscilla Barns Landrum (the youngest) says both Stephen and Margaret were born in Kentucky. Other researchers have said, Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania. So I'm open to anything. Since there is so much drift over with Barns family members with the Fosters, Virginia - Scotts, Whites, Landrums and so forth, it's possible their connections go back even further than Owen County. So if you would be kind enough to keep your eyes open for Stephen Barns in Halifax County, Virginia as you do your research, I would be very grateful. I know there were Barnses in Halifax County but I have no idea if they are related in any way. Charlotte [email protected]

3. Aha! Do you know about a marriage of a SCOTT to a LANDRUM? James M. SCOTT married Lucinda LANDRUM (or LAWDNER?) 4 July 1847 Owen Co. IN. Who are they? Parents? Siblings? Children? I think they all came together in bunches of relatives and neighbors. Certainly WHITEs and FOSTERs did. We're trying to hook Samuel SCOTT onto that group. We are finding that Halifax Co. VA is just across the line from Person & Caswell Co. NC, and that the SCOTTs were from that area. 3. Hi, Cuzzins: For those of you worrying about those dreaded Viruses and in need of a good program, there is a good FREE one that can be downloaded. Also - there is a very good Fire Wall that is FREE for the downloading. Someone shared both with me so I am sharing with you. You are welcome to share this with anyone you want. NOTE: List/Digest from Rootsweb are already 'purged' of any Virus. Rootsweb has this ability in their system. But - be careful of messages that look like they are from Rootsweb - or that may have a reference to a Rootsweb List or Digest in the subject line. They are suspect! I have received a few of these - they are VIRUS-spreading messsages...and the ones I received were buggers to get rid of. ----------- Download the newest free version of Zone Alarm for a good Firewall it is great!! Also, download the newest version of AVG's Free Virus Software. It will run in the background as an anti-virus shield, scan your incoming e-mail, scan other disks and programs on demand, automatically update (all updates are free) and give you reports. AVG's site address is: www.grisoft.com I like it better than Norton's or McAfee's. Zone Alarm's site address is: www.zonelabs.com Please if you don't have virus and firewall protection, please, please get it now. No, I don't own any of their stock, I just hate to see people cry and listen to a sad tale of woe when it could have been prevented free. original message from: Roger [email protected] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Any question, please Email him - not me. I am semi-ignorant regarding computers, but I have downloaded both of the above. The AVG takes time to download - if you should get a "time out" advisory, just keep trying - it will eventually download. The Virus Killer has found viruses in 3 of my incoming messages since I did the download so I know it works. The Fire Wall is protection against Hackers who want to screw around with other's computers. Shirley: [email protected]
