Could someone fill me in on the parents of Margaret Edmiston Evans, please? She was born 4 MAR 1821 and died AUG 1881. She married Andrew James Couchman 16 DEC 1841 in Owen County, IN. At least some of their descendants ended up in Colorado, but I don't know if they went, too. Nancy Pundsack
Theda, I have a William Hancock. He was born in Tenn. and then was in Owen county for awhile. He is listed on the Campbell county Tn. 1850 census with a wife Mary last name???? also on 1860 Campbell county Tn census but Mary is not there, think she died. Now I don't know if he was married before Mary or not. I have him being born about 1814 or 1816. 1870 Owen Co. HANCOCK August 28, 1892 Monroe Co., IN, divorced and married secondly to Carrie A. Morris July 19, 1900 Monroe Co., IN. As you can see, they were married less than 2 months before she passed away. Ida did have two daughters : Pansy born December 11, 1894 unknown location, but located in the 1900 Census of Owen Co., IN living w/grandparents Robert & Mary (SWAFFORD) (DAVIS) GILLILAND. June born June 11, 1898 Indianapolis, Marion Co., IN. Not yet located in the 1900 census. I am looking to connect my Washington Adams with his proper parents and ancestors. Washington Adams was born in 1811 or 1812 in Ohio. However, he was living in Owen County in 1830 as living alone and between the ages of 15 and 20. He would have been 18 or 19. He is found on page 267 in that 1830 Owen County Census record. My biggest brick wall here is: what happened to William L. Hancock after his divorce from Sally Asher Hancock in 1837. No one seems to know where he went. He is listed on the 1880 census in Madison County living with Catherine and Marion Brasket. The family lived for awhile in Owen county.
