    2. Bill and Diane Mallory
    3. Merrifield Pottorff married Jennette (Nettie) Mallory in 1871, Morgan Co. IN. They had a son (Zara ? D.) abt 1874. The 1880 census has the family in Ashland Twp., Morgan Co., IN. The 1900 and 1910 censuses have Merrifield and Nettie in Gosport, Owen Co., IN. In addition Nettle's brother Murray Mallory is living with the couple. By 1920 Nettie is widowed; the census shows Nettie as head of the household with brother Murray still living there. I am seeking any additional information on this family. Thanks in advance. Regards, Bill Mallory

    1. [INOWEN] WASHINGTON ADAMS, 1811,
    2. Perry Adams
    3. I am looking to connect my Washington ADAMS with his proper parents and ancestors. Washington ADAMS was born in OHio in 1811, however, in the 1830 census we find a Washington ADAMS living in Owen County, Wayne Township Indiana as living alone and being between the ages of 15-20. This matches our Washington ADAMS. Is there anyone out there researching this area that could help us trace our Washington ADAMS. In the 1840 census, Washington was living in Lagrange county. We know he married Laura HILL in 1832 in Lagrange county, Indiana. She was the daughter of Dr. Moses Hill. This Hill family was from NY. Thank you for your help. Perry Adams San Carlos, California

Adam died in 1849, "near Gosport", and is supposed to be buried in Gosport. Artimace died 9 Feb 1863, but my information says that she died in Pulaski Co., KY (which is where they lived before moving to IN). Can someone help me with this information? Thanks so much! 3. Re: My Previous latter, re: Montgomery... Here are the references... Thanks Dick Carter [email protected] Taylor Township Taylor Township was created in December 1846 being carved out of Montgomery and Jennings Townships and presumably named after Zachary Taylor who was the field commander during the contemporary Mexican War. ___________________________- Montgomery Township Montgomery Township was one of the three originals created March 4, 1819 and contained the entire north half of the county. It underwent many boundary changes until September 1861 when the final change was made. It was presumably named after Major General Richard Montgomery an American Revolutionary officer who captured Montreal and was killed leading the assault on Quebec (Dec. 31, 1775). ________________________________ Jennings Township Jennings Township was created in September 1846 from a portion of Montgomery Township and the five easternmost sections of Jackson Township. The boundary has had slight modifications of its boundaries with both Jackson and Morgan Townships. The present boundary dates from September 1861. It was named in honor of Governor Jonathan Jennings by his relative Theodore Jennings who purchased 1,000 acres there in 1841 __________________________________ Jackson Township Jackson Township was created in January of 1834 from the northern part of Morgan Township. It gave up its five eastern most sections to Jennings Township in September 1846. It presumably named after Andrew Jackson.

    3. I have seen a reference that until 1842, Montgomery twp., Owen Co., included the entire northern half of Owen Co. (I cannot find the reference now.) Taylor, Harrison, and the rest of the northern Townships were established about 1842... My question: Does anyone have a map showing the sections for Montgomery prior to 1842. Thanks.
