Alisha - here's one of the daughter's marriages you may have missed *COTTRAIN (COLETRAIN), RACHEL CORBET, JAMES January 9, 1851 3 313 Also, Indiana marriages of this time frame are basically so & so married so & so on such & such a date. Basically, what is above - there are no parents etc. on them. Montgomery County does have a unique source I spearheaded a grant (and the work) for many years ago that often gives the names of parents. They are marriage affidavits. A parent might write: Nancy, my daughter, has my permission to marry James Jones today. Or, I am writing permission for my daughter to get married. Sometimes they were lengthy or funny or short or zip -- we used to laugh & call them today's SS cards. The Crawfordsville Library have them and I could look next time I go or you could call them and have them check the orange marriage affidavits for those two marriages and hopefully, one will give Solomon's name as the parent. 765-362-2242 I think extension 3 but you better listen to the speal to make sure to get reference/local history :) Hope some of this helps *
Here's another part of the divorce saga --- ahhh, I love genealogy :) Heehee Leona A. FERGUSON from Claude R. COLTRAIN Crawfordsville Review Thursday Jan 20, 1916 A petition for allowance was filed in the circuit court yesterday by Mrs. Leona A. Coltrain of Darlington. Several days ago, Claude R. Coltrain of Darlington brought suit for divorce alleging she found fault with him and would not live on a farm he had rented. In the petition she denies his allegations saying he deserted her and that she was forced to go and live with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles C. Ferguson of Boone Co. The wife claims that the plaintiff's father, John D. Coltrain is worth $30,000 and that her husband has an expectancy of $10,000. SHe prays the court for $5 weekly during pendency of action and for $150 to prepare to fight the case. Mrs. Coltrain is represented by A. J. Sheeby. His lawyers are McAdams & Jones of Lafayette.
