    3. Sure a mystery to me. Tried B, BF, Ben etc. in 1880 census; marriages, etc. Like he doesn't exist. Frustratin' :) One seemed a possibility living with parents (Allen, Andrew 66 Farmer #79 p 9 - Cloverdale Twp, Putnam Co IN)W Va - Va Va and wife Nancy A 60 KY KY KY - Benj F. 27 IN W VA KY - he is listed as a teacher though but not a doctor. About the closest I could come up - of course, we don't know the age of this gal - really old, young ? It's before Death Records. 3. This is odd, look what I found on the net >From Story County Watchman January 17, 1902 Story City Messenger: ....Letters and newspaper from the Pacific coast confirm the sad fact that Dr. and Mrs. B. F. Allen went down with the illfated steamer Walla Walla. They had been visiting their son-in-law who lives near San Francisco, and were on their home ward journey when the calamity over took them. From the newspaper reports it weems that Mrs. Allen acted the heroic part of this tragedy. When the last boat left the sinking vessel there was just room for one more and she was invited to the place but when she was informed that their was no room for her husband she refused to go but perferred to die with him. SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Dr. B. F. Allen was Dr. Benjamin F. Allen. He married Louisa Cook 24 June 1861 in Marion County, Ohio.
