Crawfordsville Journal Review 8-6-1965 -- Amos Mark Hays, Jr. 57, native of Montgomery County and brother of Joe of Crawfordsville died Friday afternoon at University Hospital at Birmingham, Ala. He had been ill several months. Hays retired in 1962 after 34 years with Shell Oil Co Southern Marketing Div, New Orleans. He joined Shell in Crawfordsville in1928 and held responsible positions in St. Louis, Cleveland and Lima, Ohio and Greensboro and Raleigh, NC; prior to taking his assignment to New Orleans in 1955. Mr. Hays had been associated with Engel Realty Co in Birmingham for the past year. The son of Amos M and Violet Galey Hays, the deceased was born March 18, 1908. He was married Sept 7 1933 to Meletin C. Greuel who survives. Mr. Hays was graduated from CHS and attended Wabash. He was a member of Beta Phi Sigma and Phi Delta fraternities. The deceased was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Birmingham. He also belonged to the Vestavia Country Club and Breakfast Sertoma Club in Birmingham. A funeral mass will be conducted at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Bernard's Catholic Church with Msgr. Henry F. Ward officiating. Rosary services at 8:15 p.m. Sunday at Hunt & Son. Burial in Oak HIll Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary after 2 pm. Sunday.
