Crawfordsville Journal Review 2 Jan 1959 -- Mrs. Bertha O. Galey, 88 died at 5:30 p.m. Wed at the Tall Cedars Nursing Home in Bridgeport. She had been in failing health the past 3 years and seriously ill the past week. She was born April 27, 1879, in Montgomery County, a daughter of Oscar and Jane McLaughlin Ward. Shew as twice married. She was first married to Franklin C. Evans - Jan 2 1894. Her second marriage was to Samuel O. Galey in 1912 (sic- Samuel Smith Warren Galey on 6 Aug 1913 Bk 6 p 62 Montgomery Co IN marriages). She had lived in Montgomery County most of her life and had spetn the last two years with her daughter, Mrs. Zola M. Jackson near Indianapolis. Mrs. Galey was a member of the Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church and Daughters of Union Veterans. Survivors include the daughter and a sister, Mrs. Ethel C. Herron. She was preceded in death by, Miss Lucille Jean Evans and sister, Ada Lee Pearl. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hunt & Son Funeral Home with Rev. John DeKruyter officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
