Crawfordsville Journal Review Tuesday, Dec 1 1964 -- Rex Cheney, 60, 108 W. Franklin , 40-year-resident of Crawfordsville died at 5:45 a.m. Thursday in Culver Hospital. He had become ill last Friday and entered the hospital at that time. He was an employee of Mid-States Steel & Wire for 35 years. Past Worthy Pres of C'ville Eagle Lodge and member of Elks & Moose Lodges. Also member of Lambda Chi Fraternity at Wabash College where he graduated in 1928. During his 4 years at the school, he played varsity football. He was also a member of the Father's Aux of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in C'ville and Ben Hur LIfe Assoc. Member of Evansville Methodist Church. Born Sept 16 1904 in Alma, mich, Mr. Cheney was son of Marion and Jessie March Cheney. He graduated from Evansville Central HS where he was a star football player. On Dec 18 1927 he married Faye Green in Crawfordsville. Survivors include the widow at home; a son, Donald E. Cheney; a daughter, Mrs. Byron C. Harvey; a sister, Mrs. RA Swonder; the step-father, ES Klaser and two grandchildren. Funeral serv will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home Rev Robert Shotts officiting. Burial in C'ville Masonic Cem. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Thursday.
