Gould W. Westfall and our family's Dayton Westfall would appear to be brothers. Dayton Westfall, mentioned below, presuming it's the SAME Dayton Westfall of whom I'm speaking, married Elsie May Reynolds Westfall, a sister of my Gramma Flora Etta Reynolds Todd (8-20-1888--2-10-1960, wife of my Grampa John Henry Todd (3-13-1884--9-2-1958). I have an obit to share, which, by the way, you and Jeff posted and commented on for me, in the past. Also, someone else wrote in to tell me that this Elsie May may be related to Flora, which she was. So, I have three of you to thank for that knowledge, which, when combined with "my proof"...Flora's Bible Records, I am re-sharing. Thanks to all of you. Here is the obit. Crawfordsville Journal-Review February 10, 1947, Page 7, Col. 6. Elsie Westfall of New Richmond dies. New Richmond, February 10- Mrs. Elsie May Westfall, 62, widow of Dayton Westfall, former New Richmond Businessman, died Sunday night at Indianapolis hospital. Born Nov. 9, 1884 near Richmond, Mrs. Westfall was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Reynolds. Her marriage to Dayton Westfall took place in Danville, Ill. The Husband, who operated a store in New Richmond several years, died in 1932. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Carl Dunagan of Bedford, four sisters, Mrs. William Bailey, of New Richmond, Mrs. J.D. McMillin, of Tucson, Ari., Mrs. John Todd, of Logansport, and Mrs. George Weaver, also of Logansport. A grandson, Gene Westfall, of Indianapolis, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 o'clock Wednesday morning at the Utterback and Bright funeral home, with burial at the New Richmond Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects at the Funeral home. Rev. George T. King of the First Baptist Church will officiate. Besides the husband, a sister preceded her in death. ______________________________________________ Okay, now first of all, if anyone needs them, I have the full names of the husbands and wives, above, if needed. And, I'm not so sure, unless I check the records, that the name of "J.D. McMillin", above, is spelled correctly. I know his first name was John. (ANOTHER John!) I have photos of him in Logansport, as well as some of these others people. At my Gramma and Grampa Todd's house. Photos in their photo album. Also, in the past, I had discussed, that the name of Elsie May Reynolds Westfall's father, my great-grandfather, was listed in the Bible Records of his daughter, my Gramma Flora Etta Reynolds Todd, as "Edwin L. Reynolds." But, in all other places, including his burial place in Mount Hope Cemetery (an unmarked grave), his name was listed as "Edward." Also, Flora's Bible Records list the birthplace of Elsie, the eldest of the children, as "Cass County," as were also listed the other five Cass County children. Four of these six children were listed as having died, "in infancy." Really sad. Then, starting with child number seven, through child number eleven, the births were all in Montgomery County. So, I think there is a mistake in the obit on the birthplace of Elsie. I have all the birthdates of all of these Reynolds children, if anyone needs them. I believe Mamie Margery Reynolds was probably the sister listed as having been the sister who preceded Elsie in death. I have two death dates on Mamie: Either 1924 or 1925. I bet a lot of the answers are to be found in the New Richmond Cemetery, another project not yet done. I was going to get back on that in 2009. Also, Mamie and Elsie's mother, who married Edwin/Edward L. Reynolds was Olive Mary Merritt Reynolds. I don't know where she is buried. Anyone know? I suspect Montgomery County. Haven't found her where Edwin/Edward is buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Logansport. SOME ODD TRIVIA. Elsie and Flora almost died on the same day and month, though the years are different. Elsie died on 2-9-1947 & Flora died on 2-10-1960. Anyway, the Westfalls, Reynolds, and Todds are related through marriage. Confused? Hope not! If you have more questions, I may know a FEW answers. And, I do appreciate this sharing of knowledge from all of you! Happy New Year in 2009!
