Crawfordsville Journal 30 Dec 1946 -- Mrs. Rosa Titus, 88, last survivor of a family of 11 children and a resident of Montgomery for nearly 4 score years, died at the Burnett Nursing Home, Lafayette at 7 o'clock Monday morning following a stroke suffered 9 days ago on Dec 21. Mrs. Titus was the daughter of David and Rebecca Balser Wert, early pioneers in Ripley Township. She was born March 16,1859 at the old homestead, two miles south of alamo, the youngest in a family of 11 children. Mrs. Titus secured her early education in the schools of Ripley Township and Alamo. Her marriage to Gilbert Titus, for many years continuing for 30 years a leading merchant in Alamo, took place July 14, 1878. After continuing for 30 years in business in Alamo Mr. Titus removed to Waynetown where he was in business for a number of years. His death occurred Jan 11, 1937. Since the death of Mr. Titus, Mrs. titus had spent much of the time with her only son, and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Byron Titus, in Lafayette. Joining the Christian Church at Alamo when a girl 15 years of age, Mrs. Titus remained active for more than half a century in the work of the church. In addition to the son in Lafayette, Mrs. Titus is survived by two grandsons and two great grandchildren. The grandsons are Myron Hugh Titus of Lafayette and James C. Titus, FIndlay, Ohio. The body will be brought to the Waynetown Christian Church the church until the hour of the funeral at 2 o'clock. In charge of the funeral services will be the Rev. Fred Sharp, pastor of the church. Burial will be made in the Masonic Cemetery in Waynetown.
