Crawfordsville Journal Review Dec 25 1954 -- Elizabeth Catherine Hardee, 91, died at 12:30 a.m. Friday at her home, 209 W. Chestnut. She had been in failing health 4 years. Mrs. Hardee was a daughter of Ransom and Sarah Surface VanCleave and was born near New Market March 19, 1868. She married James A. hardee Dec 29, 1886. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church at Browns Valley. Surviving her are two daughters, Lillian Hardee, at home, and Mrs. Dora Swisher of Crawfordsville; two granddaughters reared in her home, Marilyn at home and Beth Kelly of Anderson; 23 grandchildren and several great and great great grandchildren; two brothers, Jessie and Jonathan Vancleave of New Market and a sister, Mrs. Amanda Hicks of Crawfordsville. The husband and five daughters preceded Mrs. Hardee in death. Funeral rites are announced for 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Noble Reeves Funeral Home in New Market. Rev. F.S. Fisher of Greencastle will officiate and burial will be in Indian Creek Hill Cemetery.
