    3. Crawfordsville Journal-Review 28 Nov 1964 -- L. Gene Marthey, 45, resident of this city since 1945 died at Culver Hospital at 8:30 a.m. Saturday a short time after he became ill while at work at RR Donnelley & Sons Co. Death was due to a coronary occlusion. He was born Sept 3, 1919 in Akron, Ohio, the son of Lewis J. and Bertha Bennett Marthey. He was married to Jean Cunningham Tilney. Mr. Marthey was a member of the First Christian Church and was serving on the board of education of the church as well as teaching a Sunday School class. He was a member of Montgomery Lodge No. 50, F&AM and was a member of the board of trustees of Masonic Cemetery. He was graduated from Kenmore HS in Akron in 1937 and Kent State University in 1942. During WWII, Mr. Marthey served int he US army as a photographer in iran. He was a member of the American Legion. Since 1947 he had been employed by the Donnelley firm. The survivors include the wife and 3 daughters. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Howard F. Miller, pastor of 1st Christian Church in charge. Burial in Masonic Cem. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Sunday. Masonic services will be held at 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
