Crawfordsville Weekly Journal Saturday April 18, 1891 -- Word reached the city last Monday of the suicide of Allen Owens at the home of his relatives about a mile south of Alamo. Owens was a well known character here, being an experienced and skillful watchmender. He was a cripple and made his rounds by means of a hand propelled chair. His deformity and ill health are what caused him to make the rash step. He committed suicide by taking a large dose of morphine and left a note by his side, stating that he had taken the poison...
