Crawfordsville Journal Review - 24 Jan 1925 -- John Q. Canine, a former resident of this city, died at Venice, California Jan 23 according to a telegram received in this city by BW Wilhite. Mr. Canine was about 79 years of age and had lived here all of his life up to five years ago when he moved to California. He has a large number of relatives and friends in this city and for many years he was in the employ of the city. After his sons had moved to califronia he decided at their earnest solicitation to make his home on the coast himself. About a year ago his wife died and last summer he visited here for 10 weeks being the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Wilhite. He said that he had come east to say good bye to his old friends. At that time he was very active and apparently in good health. During last month he had suffered with heart trouble and this eventually caused his death. He is survived by four sons, Walter, Howard, Leo and Henry and he had made his home recently with Walter at Venice. Funeral services were to be held today at Venice and burial was to be beside his wife in the cemetery at Palo Alto.
