Crawfordsville Review May 29 1916 p 1 - John B. Vancleave a long resident of the county died at his home on W. Market Street Saturday afternoon about 4:30. The end came while Mr. Vancleave was sitting in the swing on his porch talking. He suddenly fell over and died immediately. Heart disease is the cause of the death. He was 56. Mr. Vancleave formerly lived about 5 miles south of the city, on the Greencastle Road but moved a little over a year ago to his residence on W. Market. He was in rather bad health at the time and has steadily declined. However his death was unexpected, as he was apparently in as good health Saturday as he had been. He leaves a wife, Nancy Vancleave and 4 children to mourn his death: Floyd who lives on the farm from which Mr. Vancleave moved; June Thompson who lives northwest of Yountsville; Bertha Surface whose residence is four miles south of town; and Mary who is living with her mother at home. The funeral will be held this afternoon at 2 from the home, Rev. CB Stanforth will have charge of the funeral services. Interment will be at Oak Hill cemetery, Mr. Vancleave was a member of the local order of Odd Fellows.
