Crawfordsville Weekly Journal 25 Jan 1918 p 2 -- New Ross, Jan 21 - Following a serious stroke of paralysis a few days ago, Mrs. Joan Mears died at the home of her son, Elmer Routh, yesterday morning at 6 o'clock. She had been unconcious since the stroke and her death was expected. She was formerly Miss Joan Randel and was twice married, first to Jesse H. Routh almost 50 years ago. Some years ago she was married to George Mears, who preceded her in death. She leaves two sons Perry Routh of Apache OK and Elmer Routh of this place. She had lived almost her entire life near here and no eulogy is necessary. On account of waiting to hear from her son, Perry of Okahoma, the funeral has not been fully decided on. It will be held at the home and burial will be at the IOOF Cemetery.
