Crawfordsville Journal Review, Friday, March 14, 1986, page 2 James Doan WAYNETOWN- James Doan, 70, of Rt. 4, Crawfordsville, died at 11:10 a.m. Thursday in Veterans Hospital at Indianapolis. Mr. Doan was a retired real estate broker, having given up his commission in 1981. He had been employed with Cloverleaf Builders at Indianapolis until 1978. He was a veteran of World War II and graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1933. He attended Wabash College. He was a member and past master of Advance Masonic Lodge 664 and a life and charter member of the National Association of the Legion of Honor. He was a member of the former United Methodist Church at Parkersburg; Marrott Shrine Legion of Honor at Indianapolis; Crawfordsville York Rite, Knights Templar 25; Order of Eastern Star, Waynetown chapter 435; American Legion Post 777 of Indianapolis; and VFW Post 2985 of Fort Benjamin Harrison. Born Aug. 29, 1915, in Potomac, Ill., he was a son of James and Pearl Holloway Doan. He was married to Helen Humphreys on June 14, 1936. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Steven of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Alan of Dallas, Texas; a sister, Mrs. Frances Chumley of Walnut Creek, Calif.; and two grandchildren. A sister is deceased. Services are scheduled at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Thomas Funeral Home at Waynetown with the Revs. Bill Flanigan and Allen Sparks officiating. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Masonic memorial services conducted by the Waynetown Masonic Lodge will be at 8 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Saturday. The family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society and Shrine Crippled Childrens Hospital. These may be made at the funeral home.
