    3. Crawfordsville Journal Review April 15, 1961-- L. Scott Cowan, 75, died suddenly Saturday at his home northwest of Crawfordsville. He was born Jan 26, 1886, northwest of Crawfordsville, a son of John N. and Margaret Messmore Cowan. He was twice married. His first marriage in 1906 was to Blanche Olin. She died in 1928. His second marriage, April 25, 1943 was to Essie Snyder Vestal. She died Feb 28, 1958. Mr. Cowan, a farmer and carpenter, was well known in Montgomery County as a church singer. He was a member of the Liberty Chapel Church and was active in church work. He was Assistant Sunday School Superintendent and Trustee and taught the Loyalist Class in the church. He also was a member of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau. Surviving are two sons, Byron O.and W. Marion; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Booher and Mrs. Rebecca Harris; three brothers, Walter H., Andrew M and J. Hubert; 10 grandchidlren and 8 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bright Funeral Home with Rev. C. Raymond Earle, pastor of the Kokomo Main Street Methodist Church and Rev. Harold L. Clar, pastor of Liberty Chapel Church officiating.
