Crawfordsville Journal Review 15 Jan 1962 p 2--Mrs. Ethel (Dot) Trout, a prominent Crawfordsville music teacher and retired First Methodist Church organist, died Monday morning at the Rudisill Nursing Home where she had resided since Dec 23. She was 77. Mrs. Trout was a teacher of piano and organ and had been active in music circles here for many years. She served as organist at First Methodist for 25 years before she gave up that responsibility a few years ago. Even then, however, she continued to play the chimes at the church and did so until recently. She was a member of the Crawfordsville Music Club, a graduate of the Metropolitan School of Music at Indianapolis, a member of the Morning Musicale and the Coterie Club. She was also a member of the Crawfordsville Order of Eastern Star, the First Methodist Church and was a 1901 graduate of CHS. Mrs. Trout was born in Crawfordsville July 16, 1884 and spent most of her life here. Her parents were John D. Moore and Suzanna Hathaway Moore, in 1902 she married Roy H. Trout, a service station equipment salesman who died in 1956. The couple lived in Crawfordsville except for 10 years when they reisded in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Besides her husband, Mrs. Trout was also preceded in death by a sister, Alta Moore. Survivors include a son, Gordon Trout; a daughter, Mrs. Kathry Tibbals; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bright Funeral Home. Dr. Claude McClure, former pastor of First methodist who now lives in Greencastle will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Tuesday
