MAXWELL Due To Dropsy Had Lived in the County For Long Period of Years-Survived by Wife and Eleven Children Sunday Morning at his home, seven miles northeast of the city, occurred the death of Thomas B. Maxwell. Death was due to dropsy.The deceased was one of Michigan townships most respected citizens and has lived in the county nearly all of his life. He was born in Ohio in 1837, and was one of the early pioneers who came to this county and settled. He is survived by his wife, Nancy LIPP MAXWELL and eleven children, all of whom reside in the county, five daughters, Mrs. Jacob MILLER, Mrs. Ellis THOMPSON, Mrs. Samuel PRICE, Mrs. Harry LEE and Miss Grace MAXWELL; and six sons, John, Charles, Hezekiah, Ray, Clinton and Earl. He is also survived by the following brothers, Robert MAXWELL, of Tkoa, Wash.; B. F. MAXWELL, of Joliet, Ill., and Flint MAXWELL, of this city. The funeral services were held at Mt. Pleasant church Tuesday at 10 o'clock, by Rev. Edwards. Interment at the Hopewell cemetery. From: Clinton County Resident Civil War Veterans 1899 by Kloenne Thomas B. Maxwell enlisted at Crawfordsville, Ind. June 23, 1861, three years as a private Co. G, 11th IVI, Lew Wallace Regt., 13th and 19th , Dept. of the Miss. and of the Shenandoah. He re-enlisted Dec. 15, 1863 and was mustered out July 26, 1865 at Ft. McHenry, Baltimore, Maryland. Mr. Maxwell went with his father, James Maxwell and stepmother, Elizabeth King Hathaway Maxwell to Montgomery Co., IN in 1855. Thomas Benton Maxwell came to Clinton Co., IN in 1865.
