Sant Moody was my great-great-grandfather. I always thought his middle name was "Newton", like my great-grandfather, Edward Newton Moody. As a child/teenager, my grandfather (Charles Leland Moody) lived for awhile with Sant, who evidently was known to look after all of the kids in the family. I found a great story involving Sant Moody in an oral history transcription somewhere, as told by a Norman Dillman: "Phil (Powell) was about 4 years old at the time and he dearly loved his grandfather Sant Moody. Now Sant was a big friendly Irishman who loved his children with a passion. But to put it mildly, he could cuss like a trooper. Phil kidlike picked this up from his grandpa and Katie tried every way to break him. As a last resort, she packed his little suitcase and told him if he used any more bad words he must leave home. This lasted a few minutes until Phil cut loose again and Katie told him to leave. After some convincing, Phil picked up his little bag and went out the door and down the front walk to the step. In the meantime, I am sure Katie was shedding some tears. My mom came by right then and asked what was wrong. He told mom the whole story about how he had to leave home and of course she asked him where he was going. His answer: 'I can't think of a [BLEEP] place to go.'" That makes me laugh every time I read it. Yep, that's my DNA talking. :) On Sat, Jan 9, 2016 at 10:28 AM, Karen Zach via <inmontgo@rootsweb.com> wrote: > The darling little "Irish-looking" UNKNOWN man who was on the opening > "Montgomery GenWeb" page for about 3-weeks (try to change them every > week but just so wanted this fella' identified) was identified by his > nephew, J.D.
