The Saturday Evening Journal August 29, 1885 George Heckathorn, one of the pioneers of the county, died at his home three miles west of Ladoga, on last Monday at the age of 73 years. Mr. Heckathorn has lived on the farm where he died since 1839, forty-six years. He was a member of the United Brethren church and took an active part in all church work. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. T.D. Fyffe on Tuesday.
