As a descendant of some of those "pioneers", one who lives a thousand miles away, I am glad that my efforts to do well by certain Maine cemeteries are matched by other people in Indiana. Decoration Day in my childhood, living with my grandparents, meant preparing tools, flowers, and plans so that the four cemeteries we visited annually would look all spruced up for the season.
