He was a farmer and cattle raiser. Born Feb. 3, 1889, east of Crawfordsville, he was the son of Newton and Rose Martin Campbell. He was married Oct. 6, 1910, to Anna Shaver. Mr. Campbell was a member of the Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church, Rotary Club, Lodge 50 of F & AM and Order of Eastern Star. Survivors include his wife; two grandsons, Larry Campbell of Seattle, Wash., and Eddie Campbell of near Crawfordsville, and a daughter-in-law, Margaret Booher, near Crawfordsville.     3. Crawfordsville Journal Review 24-Dec-1963 4:5- Lewis Davis Dies In Terre Haute- Lewis H. Davis, 67, former local resident died at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Terre Haute Monday night. A native of Clay County, he was born April 12, 1896, the son of John and Mary Ann Davis. He spent many years in Crawfordsville, but had lived the last eight years in Terre Haute. He had been employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Terre Haute. Mr. Davis’ first wife, Etta Burcham, preceded him in death. He later married Ruth Howell, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Vivian Bryant, Indianapolis, and Pauline Hagler, Scottsdale, Ariz.; a son, Wilbur Davis, Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother, Roy J. Davis, Detroit, Mich.; a half-brother, William Dean, Hymera, and a half-sister, Mabel Dean, Lafayette. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursay at the Hunt & Son Funeral Home with Rev. J. W. (Molly) Hamm died Friday morning at her home, 312 Mill St. She was 85 and had been in failing health for the past year. She was born Sept. 23, 1878, at Bellflower, Ill. And was married Nov. 5, 1899 to Clarence W. Hamm. She came to Montgomery County in 1918 from Champaign, Ill. And was a member of the Youngs Chapel Christian Church. Survivors include a daughter Mrs. Sarah Hearn of Crawfordsville; a son, Owen Hamm, also of Crawfordsville; and two sister, Mrs. Henrietta Sturm of Cody, Wyo. And Mrs. Lillah Sparks of Aurora, Mo. She was preceded in death by her husband, who died Nov. 20, 1947, and by a daughter, brother and sister. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Hunt & Sons Funeral Home. Rev. John R. She had been seriously ill two weeks. Born April 27, 1900, at Bedford, she was a daughter of William and Emma White Hall. She married Leslie Faust June 24, 1922. They were married at Bedford. Mrs. Faust, who was employed by Culver Hospital for three years, was a member of the Bedford Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband; a son, Leslie L. Faust Jr.; a brother, Ott Hall of Oklahoma; a sister, Mrs. Mary Sipes of Bedford and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Wanda Mae Sutton. She had been in failing health the last three years. She was a native of Wallace, born Sept. 19, 1882 to Jasper and Sarah Keller Bruner. She was twice married, to Charles Lowe and to Fred Michael. Both are deceased. Mrs. Michael was a member of the Wallace Christian Church. She lived the last 3 ½ years in Indianapolis, with a son, Charles Kenneth Lowe. Survivors include the son, three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was born Oct. 4, 1884 near Fincastle, daughter of William W. and Mary Clodfelter Webster. She was married to Eugene W. Tucker, who survives. Her only other survivors are nieces and nephews. Servies on Oct. 23, 1901, near New Market. She and her husband owned and operated a greenhouse at New Market for 25 years. She was a member of the New Market Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, Raymond of New Market and Lawrence of Waveland; two daughters, Mrs. Raymond Middleton of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Blair Burnight of Chicago, Ill.; a brother, Roy Demoret of Lafayette; two sisters, Mrs. Otis Hall of Boston, Mass., and Mrs. Hazel Busenbark of New Market; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. Crawfordsville Journal Review, 4-May-1964, 8:1- James Auman Jr. Dies At 23; Rites Set for Tuesday- Marion James (Jim) Auman Jr., 23, died at 4:12 a.m. Sunday in Cuvler Hospital of a gunshot wound to his head that Coroner Dr. Samuel Millis said was self-inflicted. The shooting occurred in his apartment bathroom, police reported. A .45 Colt automatic was found near the mortally wounded man when police were called to the Palmer Apartments building shortly before 4 a.m. His wife told authorities that he had shot himself. Mr. Auman was born Jan. 20, 1941 at Crawfordsville, son of Marion James and Velma Gilland Auman. He was married Dec. 15, 1962 to Diana Adams. [sic- seems to be a line missing] Donnelley & Sons Co. and was a member of the Elks Lodge. Before his employment at the Donnelley plant, he served in the U. S. Army three years. Funeral services were Friday afternoon and burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Martin, the former Lena Ham, was 84 years old. She was born at Alamo and went to school there, later moving to Rosedale. She had lived with her daughter for the last four years, after leaving a home at Hollywood, Fla. Survivors, beside her daughter, are a son, Valentine Martin Jr., of Hollywood, Fla.; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Milligan Memorial Presbyterian Church. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Mary Brown of Crawfordsville, Mrs. Ivall Dean Farley of Darlington, Mrs. Wilma Farley of Lafayette and Mrs. Ruby Minx of San Antonio, Tex.; three brothers, Louis, Leland and Anson of Mishawaka; 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons. He had been in failing health the past five years. Born May 14, 1882, at Lafayette, he was the son of George and Anna Wainscott. He was married March 17, 1928 to Mabel Price. Mr. Wainscott served in the U. S. Army during World War I and saw action in a number of major battles. He was discharged in 1922 after 19 years in the service. He was employed by R. R. Donnelley & Sons before retiring. Survivors include his wife; a stepson, J. Edwin Price of Orlando, Fla.; six stepdaughters, Mrs. Thomas Eads of Arcadia, Mrs. Charles Gilmore of Covina, Calif., Mrs. Charles Carter and Mrs. Guy Cunningham, both of Danville, Ill., Mrs. Ernest Bebee and Mrs. Walter Oppy, both of Crawfordsville; two half-brothers, Andy Leslie of Crawfordsville and Hubert Leslie of Jacksonville, Miss. Main St., died at 6:20 p.m. Sunday in Culver Hospital, where he had been a patient for two weeks. He spent most of his life training horses for stables throughout the country and was at one time the sergeant in charge of the famed Black Horse Troop in Chicago. He was born in Alamo, Oct. 2, 1880, to George W. and Alice Campbell Ammerman. He was a 55-year member of the Eagles. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Ida Smith of Crawfordsville, and a nephew, Fredric Albright of Anderson. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Hunt & Son Funeral Home. A service will be conducted there by the Eagles at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Rev. Henry F. Cooper, a former resident of Crawfordsville and Hillsboro, died Friday morning at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, where he had been a patient for a week. He was 81. He was retired from the insurance business, and occupation which he had followed in Crawfordsville and Indianapolis. Mr. Cooper was born near Hillsboro and was the son of Miles and Lilly Nicholson Cooper. He married Nina Osborn of Covington, and the couple observed their 50th wedding anniversary recently. Survivors include the widow; one son, Paul Cooper of Indianapolis; two brothers, Marion R. Cooper of Hillsboro and Shirley Cooper of Indianapolis; and two sisters, Mrs. Katie Stuart of Muncie and Miss Mary Cooper, a missionary in Africa. Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by two sons. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Shirley Brothers Funeral Home, 946 N. Illinois St., Indianapolis, with burial to follow in Oak Hill Cemetery here. He was first married to Thelma Courtney. His second wife was Thelma Duncan who died in October 1959. He worked in the brick plant in the city and at the aluminum plant in Lafayette. Crawfordsville Journal Review, 28-Jul-1961, 3: 3- Mrs. Stockdale Dies In Rochester- WAYNETOWN- Mrs. Janice (Jan) Leone Stockdale, 39, died at 2:15 p.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn. Mrs. Stockdale, who lived with her husband 1 1/2 miles south of Waynetown on the Bounnell farm, had been an employe of Hoosier Crown in Crawfordsville for about 18 years. She became ill in May and in June was taken to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester for major surgery. She had been home about two weeks when she became ill Thursday morning and was flown back to Rochester. She was born March 22, 1922, to H. E. and Pearl Quackenbush Nickloy in Adrian, Mich. She was graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1940 and also graduated from the Lafayette Business College. On Feb. 14, 1945, she was married to Max Stockdale in Crawfordsville. They shared their home with his mother, Mrs. Mamie Stockdale. Survivors include her husband; her parents, 1305 W. Wabash Ave., Crawfordsville; a twin sister, Mrs. Clint (Joyce) Runyon, also of Crawfordsville, and several nieces and nephews. A sister, Jean, preceded her in death. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown. Rev. John G. DeKruyter, pastor of the Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church, of which Mrs. Stockdale was a member, and Rev. John R. Servies will officiate. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Sunday. Welsh June 11, 1921. They were married in the home of the bride near Martinsville, Ill. Survivors in addition to the husband include a daughter, Miss Tinsey Welsh of Hammond and nieces and nephews.
