Hi - I am a descendant of William Jeffrey and MaryAnn Baldwin. William died in 1916 and Mary Ann in 1930, both in Crawfordsville. I have a picture of Mary Ann. Would anyone have a picture of William? If so, I would love a copy. thank you Seria Gardner

Hey Erin I have only been to Montgomery County one time in my life but thououghly enjoyed my trip there. I located the library & received loads of help & found my family cemeteries & graves & local library 's always have more things than the big ones such as family folders & files. Call & ask for hours etc. I have also found Karen Zach has been a treasure trove of info & love the Montgomery County website! She is the one doing it with thousands of people helping with photos & info. You can email her directly from the website & she will answer you. It is great. Good luck. Hey all, My mother and I have been thinking about driving up to Montgomery Co, IN for a weekend to do some family research. Our Stump and Bunker family lines came to Southern Illinois from Montgomery Co. I have been unable to find much out about my Stump family especially. I have used the local library here in my home county extensively, and have found more there than I have been able to find online. My question is: would a trip there be worth the time and miles? Is there a local library/historical society that would have local records? How accessible is birth/marriage/death/tax records? Are these places open on the weekend? Thank you for your help! GREAT COMMENTS via the list & private e-mails -- thanks so much. It was quite helpful -- so, good dealsky, I'll continue sending out the updates - hopefully every couple of weeks, if not, FOR SURE monthly :) Thanks so much everyone for the helpfulness. You guys are ALWAYS helpful. Some of you have stuck through the 20 years of my craziness even. Sometimes I get nutty ideas but you all come through to help. Thanks, thanks, thanks for being the #1 listserve in my book :) kbz On 9/1/2015 6:30 AM, Melissa Jackson wrote: > I look over the listings. Erin - to add to my other comments in earlier e-mail. The Local History area top floor (elevators) is in the library which is on Washington Street about a block from right downtown - corner of Pike & Washington (or Washington & Wabash - either - it's BIG :). People are always helpful. They have almost all the records that were at the courthouse - births, marriages, deaths, I think tax lists but not positive about that one. Lots of Family Folders (think they have a list on line) -- see my other e-mail for links. Also, I'm attaching what I have on the Stump family here - whether it'll help or not, not sure but usually when I send these (just anything I collect on any family in our county for the last 46 years) someone finds a few goodies in the reports :) GOOD LUCK & let me know if you got the stump.txt On 9/1/2015 2:03 PM, Erin R via wrote: > Hey all, > My mother and I have been thinking about driving up to Montgomery Co, IN for a weekend to do some family research. Erin -- if you have a lot of family here, do indeed come to the local library however make sure you check thoroughly their online databases as you might find what you need there OR on the GenWeb site - both below http://www.cdpl.lib.in.us/databases <http://www.cdpl.lib.in.us/databases> http://indianagenweb.com/inmontgomery/ On 9/1/2015 2:23 PM, s.m.mills via wrote: > Others will speak more knowledgeably about Montgomery Co resources, but just a brief mention that some Stump families were Church of the Brethren. She is the one doing it with thousands of people helping with photos & info. You can email her directly from the website & she will answer you. It is great. Good luck. I look forward to receiving messages with site additions. First, of course, I look for my family names. Then I go to the site and read items that look interesting, many of which are not related to my families. I enjoy reading about life as it was for my people and their friends and neighbors. Please keep it coming. I always look to see if any of my family names are listed or the towns cemeteries etc that relate to them. Keep up the great work Karen, you ARE appreciated! Not many do what you do or as well. Everytime you put something on, I look. My LIST family has only been on there once, because there only lived there a short time. I appreciate everything you put on. It makes me be closer to them as I can think what it was like when they were there. Thank you.
