I don't have access to 1850 census but found him in Warren Co in 1860 quite some time ago - he'd not have turned 16 yet as born in Sept census 9 June - there were two other young Coffenberry boys George age 13 and John 16 who also were farm laborers in Warren Co in that census - figured they were his brothers and parents died young, especially since Nathan's oldest son was George. 1860 Jordan Twp Warren Co IN William B. I sent these a couple of weeks ago. These are my Humphreys, although Thomas's son Samuel did have a son named Francis Marian Humphreys I can't find that they were related at all and Thomas and Samuel didn't live near Alamo so they weren't neighbors or anything. Date: Fri, 2 Jan 2009 20:48:40 EST From: Limequilla@aol.com Subject: [InMontgo] Obit Thomas B. Humphrey 1818 To: INMONTGO@rootsweb.com Message-ID: <c65.3d0ee489.36901df8@aol.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Thomas B. Humphrey was born June 27, 1818, died May 30, 1904, aged 85 years, 11 months and 3 days. He was born in Putnam Co., Indiana, residing there until he was 18 years of age when he moved to Vermillion Co., Ill. living there until twelve years ago when he returned to Indiana, locating four miles northeast of Waynetown. He was married to Rachel Cassairt when near fourteen years of age. By this union there was born five children, three dying in infancy; two sons survive, Albert of Ft Scott, Kan., and Samuel of this county. He joined the Christian church when a young man and lived an upright life. He was one of the early pioneers of Vermillion county, Ill., and was one of the few men still living in the year 1904 who could look back over four score years and see the wonderful changes wrought and realize that he was one of the cornerstones of the country's progress. He was a just man before God, walking circumspect before all men, honorable in all his dealings and his departure from us is a loss much deplored. He was the grandfather of nineteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Peace be to his ashes. ~Crawfordsville [Indiana] Daily Journal, Thursday, 2 Jun 1904 page 4, column 4.
