    3. So there was a photographer named Correa who endorsed that product; apparently the newspaper either misspelled his name or the copy is blurry enough that it looks as if it end in "n" rather than in "a." Thanks for finding these pictures and posting the addresses for them! -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Bill Coulter via Sent: Monday, July 27, 2015 1:28 PM To: Constance Shotts <[email protected]>; [email protected] Subject: Re: [INMONROE] Bloomington Photographer Perry Corren Endorsed Product See below a couple of links to a couple of prints of a single photograph of the eastern half of the south side of Bloomington's public square taken by Perry Correa. Curiously, Pavil Wilson's name (P. M. Wilson) is written on one of the prints. These were created in the context of a proposed Montgomery Ward store which, despite multiple proposed sites over the years, was never built as far as I can tell. http://webapp1.dlib.indiana.edu/archivesphotos/results/item.do?itemId=P00522 85 http://webapp1.dlib.indiana.edu/archivesphotos/results/item.do?itemId=P00522 86 Bill Coulter On Sun, Jul 26, 2015 at 4:05 PM, Bill Coulter <[email protected]> wrote: > I think there was photographer in Bloomington named 'Correa' at one > point, and there was until a few years ago a resident with that surname. > > VerWilKo was a cure-all marketed by a local doctor named J. 3. There is also a photo at the Monroe County History Center of the west side of the square where Correa's studio was located. http://monroehistory.pastperfect-online.com/30572cgi/mweb.exe?request=record;id=01CD9EA5-A140-44AA-9E6E-116730301392;type=102 This same image is in the Shaw-Starks collection at the Mathers Museum, indicating that it was likely a Charles Gilbert Shaw photo (Shaw had for a time a partner named Cosner and also accumulated photos taken by others). The Evening World reported on February 18, 1929 that a remodel was in progress at the corner of 6th and College for the Metropolitan store. The sign atop the building to the left of the remodel site may read 'Correa Studio' ( http://monroehistory.pastperfect-online.com/30572cgi/mweb.exe?request=record;id=02A27126-EDAE-4561-BD9B-274077272136;type=102 )...
