Marshall County Republican, Plymouth, Indiana, June 20, 1861. At a meeting in Bloomington recently to raise recruits for the army, Hon. James Hughes of the United States Court of Claims made a speech in which he took unequivocal grounds in favor of sustaining the Union by force of arms. He also condemned the former administration for not taking active measures to put down the insurrection at its inception. Judge Hughes, it will be remembered, was a leader of the Breckinridge party.
