    3. Sarah Isenhower vs. George Isenhower, Divorce and Alimony, found in Box 74, Monroe County (IN) Historical Society, Bloomington, Indiana. NOTE: The information noted below was abstracted by Randi Richardson from the original , handwritten record and is not necessarily the only document in the file pertinent to the case. In 1858, Sarah Isenhower sued her husband, George Isenhower, for divorce in Monroe County court. She said she married George about 30 years ago in Tennessee and lived with him continuously until about three months before she filed her complaint when he abandoned her to co-habit with Elizabeth Adkins with whom he had been keeping company for three years. Sarah and George reportedly had several unnamed children together ranging in age from 10 to 25, and George had spent a majority of his money on Elizabeth rather than the support of his family.
