    3. Bloomington (Monroe County, Indiana) Weekly Star, October 4, 1919, p. 1. Chief's Wife Aids Force Bloomington has never boasted of a woman policeman in these days of approaching feminine dominance, but the local metropolitan police force can brag of a lady desk-sergeant in the person of Mrs. James Browning, wife of the chief. Mrs. Browning has been presiding at the desk at police headquarters in the past week and is right on the job in handling calls and dispatching "coppers" to various parts of the city. Constance T.
