Bloomington (Monroe County, Indiana) World Star, March 7, 1930, p. 8. HOLDUP FRUSTRATED BY VICTIM'S VALOR An attempted holdup was frustrated Thursday night when Robert Massengill, Ellettsville Road, knocked one of two bandits down. Massengill was driving on West Fifth Street when he was forced to stop by two men who were driving an old truck. The men drew guns and jumped on the running board of his car. Massengill struck at one of them knocking him off the car and then sped away. One of the men wore a checkered sweater and the other a dark coat. Police Thursday night were conducting a search for the two men, both of whom it is thought were identified.
