Bloomington (Monroe County, Indiana) Evening World, October 14, 1916, p. 1. LETTER FROM MISSISSIPPI Biloxi, Miss., Oct. 11, 1916. Editor Daily World: We can't get along without The World. We are very pleasantly located one block from the beach. It has been very warm here for the past week. Men wearing their palm beach suits and children going bare foot. The tourists have not begun to come in. All waiting until after election, to vote for Wilson before leaving for the Sunny South. We are disappointed in the failure of the oyster crop here this season. A very hard storm in July causing the oyster beds to fill with fresh water. Those that we are now getting are very small and lacking the usual good flavor. The pecan crop was also damaged in this same storm. Trees last year at this time that were heavily laden are perfectly bare this year, causing a great loss of the growers, who yearly receive a big revenue. Two gentlemen and I went out fishing yesterday morning in a row boat about three-quarters of a mile from the shore and in three hours caught 140 fish all good size, large enough to eat. You had better come down and try your luck. This is such a fine place for fishing and plenty of water in the Gulf of Mexico if you want to go swimming. Yours respectfully, FRANK H. ROSE.
