Ernest Butler, was scheduled to appear before the Monroe County grand jury in connection with an alleged misuse of funds in his township office and voting irregularities. Marie Nowell, a poor relief clerk, and her daughter, Janie Nowell, who works as township poor relief investigator, are scheduled to appear. Several people testified that they were asked to sign pledges of political support for Butler when they sought township aid.
