The item below was abstracted from the original by Randi Richardson who provided the text in parenthesis. Gov. Mike Pence developed a budget plan that reduced the Indiana State Library's funding by 24 percent which would eliminate the library's genealogy department as well as access to a number of licensed databases. Meanwhile the state proposes to fund the construction of a new (and sorely needed) state archives.
