Bloomington (Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana) Telephone, November 17, 1896, p. 1. Irvin Grimes, one of the leading citizens of South Park, and Johnny Sutphin, a bright 11-year-old boy, had one of the peculiar election bets. It was agreed that a pea-nut was to be rolled down the south pike about half a block by the nose, down on all fours. If Bryan was defeated Mr. Grimes was to perform and if McKinley, then Master Sutphin. Now the South Park people are patiently waiting for the contract to be carried out.
