DR. O. K. HARRIS SUDDEN DEATH Week's Flu Illness Terminates Fatally for Well-Known Ellettsville Physician Dr. Oliver K. Harris, age 57 years, a resident of Ellettsville all his life, died rather suddenly last night at nine o'clock from acute indigestion. He had been suffering from influenza for about a week, but yesterday made three professional calls, one of which was nearly ten miles from home. Dr. Harris was a graduate of Louisville Medical College and the founder of a medical fraternity. He had practiced his profession since 1896. The deceased was a member of the Masonic order and had taken an active and leading part in the civic affairs of his community. Surviving Dr. Harris are the widow, two children, Mrs. Hugh Norman of Bloomington and Knighter Harris of Ellettsville, two brothers, Dr. W. W. and T. B. Harris, both of Bloomington, and a sister, Mrs. E. A. Kemp of Indianapolis. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at three o'clock in the Ellettsville M. E. Church, burial following in the Methodist Cemetery with Rev. Mr. Minton in charge. Pallbearers will be associates of the Medical Association. The life of Dr. Harris is typical of the country doctor with more responsibilities than he could carry yet with a willingness that was probably responsible for his premature death. As the only physician in his town, having a population of about 1,000 inhabitants, he was greatly in demand. During the flu epidemic in '17 and '18, he hired a driver and for several weeks slept only between calls while he was being driven to his next patient. It was never too late at night nor the weather too stormy for Dr. Harris to answer a call, and for this untiring and faithful service, he was one of the most beloved men of his community.
