Bloomington (Monroe County, Indiana) Daily Herald Telephone, June 6, 1955, p. 1. NOTE: The item below was abstracted by Randi Richardson from the original. In 1954, Cletus Hillenburg was charged with conspiring to commit a felony. He was fined and sentenced to 2 to 14 years in the State Farm. The sentence was suspended, and he was placed on probation. In 1955, he violated the terms of his probation agreement and was placed in jail. During his incarceration, he performed custodial duties as a "trusty." On the morning of June 6, 1955, when he was scheduled to appear in court, he walked out of the jail. No one knew he was gone until he was summoned to appear at 10:15 AM. It was reported that he was seen buying a bus ticket for Ford Hollow.
