    3. Bloomington (Monroe County, Indiana) Courier, March 3, 1899, p. 3. Losses in Ellettsville Fire. A long distance telephone message from Ellettsville to the World-Courier last night places the losses in the Ellettsville fire as follows: W. C. Draper's lost on building, $12000. Insurance $1000. Lee Malicoat's loss on hardware $2400. Insurance $1400. Joseph Freeman's loss on undertaking goods and furniture $1000, insured. Mr. Malicoat's loss was the greatest as he saved only a few stoves. It is more than likely the building will be rebuilt. The firms have already rented other rooms and expect to open out for business in a few days. It is the general supposition that the fire which started on the stairway, was of incendiary origin. Constance T. Shotts, Ed.D., CG(SM) CG and Certified Genealogist are Service Marks of the Board for Certification of Genealogists, used under license by board certificants after periodic evaluations by the Board and the board name is a trademark registered in the US Patent and Trademark Office.
